CargoGuard

Driver Verification Software

Review the person behind the pickup. Bring driver license details, selfie checks, and truck registration into one CargoGuard workflow before freight is released.

What Is Driver Verification Software?

Driver verification software helps freight teams collect and review identity information for the person assigned to a shipment. CargoGuard brings driver license details, selfie checks, and truck registration into a single workflow. Brokers can compare the available information with the pickup assignment and investigate discrepancies before authorizing release.

The goal is to connect three things: the driver your team expects, the vehicle arriving at the facility, and the shipment that person is authorized to collect.

Review Driver and Vehicle Details

Driver license review: Review the license details submitted through CargoGuard’s mobile driver app alongside the assigned driver’s information. Resolve incomplete or unclear information instead of treating an uploaded image as a completed review.

Selfie checks: Review the driver’s selfie check alongside the license information. An identity result helps with the person-level review; the carrier still needs to confirm that person’s assignment to the load.

Truck registration: Compare the submitted registration details with the vehicle information for the shipment. Follow up on unexplained differences rather than assuming that either matching paperwork or a mismatch settles the release decision.

Compare Pickup Photos with the Assignment

Review truck and license plate photos with their date, time, and location details. Compare the available photos and driver information with the pickup assignment. Coordinate with the pickup facility when something does not match.

FMCSA recommends keeping driver and vehicle logs and checking that the truck arriving to load matches the contracted carrier. Its fraud prevention guidance also recommends truck photographs and recording tractor and trailer plate information.

Driver Verification Is Not the Same as Carrier Vetting

Driver verification addresses the person. Carrier vetting addresses the transportation company. Pickup authorization connects that person and company to a specific shipment. Keep these checks separate in your review so a successful identity check is not mistaken for confirmation of the carrier’s authority, insurance, or assignment.

For official carrier authority and insurance-filing information, follow FMCSA’s guidance on its Licensing and Insurance system. Review shipment-specific insurance needs separately with the appropriate insurer or professional.

Resolve Discrepancies Before Release

Review the submitted information and contact the assigned carrier through an independently verified channel. Ask the pickup facility to confirm the person and equipment present. Record the explanation and any approved change in your operational records. A mismatch is a reason to investigate, not an automatic fraud finding.

Keep Verification Information with the Shipment

Use available verification results alongside tracking activity, pickup photos, and delivery documents when reviewing a load. The load status timeline helps your team follow shipment progress. These records connect driver checks to the wider double brokering prevention workflow and cargo theft prevention process.

Driver Verification Questions

What can my team review in CargoGuard?

Your team can review driver license details, selfie checks, truck registration, and available pickup photos. Compare the information with the approved driver and vehicle assignment before making a freight-release decision.

How do drivers submit their information?

Drivers use CargoGuard’s mobile driver app for the verification workflow. Review device compatibility, required submissions, and the process for incomplete or unsuccessful checks with CargoGuard before rollout.

Does uploading a license prove that it is currently valid?

No. Capturing or reading a document is different from checking current status with the issuing authority. Confirm the exact scope of the license checks used in your workflow rather than treating an uploaded image as an official license-status result.

Does a successful selfie check authorize a driver to collect a load?

No. A selfie check supports an identity review. The broker and shipper must still confirm that the driver is assigned to the shipment and that the vehicle details match the approved pickup.

What should we do when driver or truck details do not match?

Pause the release decision under your procedures, verify the assignment through an established carrier contact, and coordinate with the pickup facility. Document the explanation before accepting a change. CargoGuard supports that review; it does not replace your approval process.

Where can we review driver-data and privacy requirements?

Review the mobile app privacy policy and discuss data access, sharing, retention, and deletion questions with CargoGuard. Our data security page outlines topics to review with the technical team before implementation.
